Richard T. Adams Jr., President & CEO, graduated from Long Beach State (LBS) with a BA in Education in 1979. He also has his Teaching Credentials from LBS. He started RTA & Associates in 1987 and has been very fortunate. In the 32 years he has been in business he has obtained the following:

  • Optimist International, Young man of the year
  • In Insurance Magazine he was listed man of the year 9 times
  • Top of the Table
  • Million Dollar Round Table

When I started this company back in 1979 I had a vision to grow the foundation of this company as we continued to grow our clientele basis.  Today, many of those dreams have come to fruition as we have a highly qualified team working together to help our clients who are mainly stretched across southern California.  It has been my honor to help these families reach their financial goals, and it is extremely rewarding to continue to help those families by assisting their second and third generations as they begin to work with us like their parents or grandparents did decades ago.  Our goal is to improve our clients financial well being through ongoing investment analysis and customer service, offering diversification in different asset classes, and taking care of insurance needs.

Sam Adams

My name is Sam and I’ve been working at RTA & Associates since 2010.  I’ve always had a drive and passion for working in this industry ever since I was a member of the business academy in high school.  It was then that I realized this career path would give me the opportunity to help clients reach their financial goals  while simultaneously helping me reach mine.  After high school, I studied business administration at the University of La Verne.  While at the University of La Verne, I played basketball for the school for three seasons, and was elected as the team captain.  My experiences from college taught me that with hard work and a team oriented focus, there is no limit on the successes you are able to accomplish.  I have carried that with me into this organization, and I’m constantly trying to use my talents  to help grow this company, while providing our existing clients with ongoing support and strategy. 

Throughout the years, I have taken on many different roles in this organization, which I think has made me very well rounded as a financial planner and a better team member.  

Chris Carter

Office Manager

Administration has long been a driving force in my professional journey. While attending the University of Arizona, I served as Special Counsel to the Arizona State Legislature and worked as an instructor for the Arizona Department of Economic Security—experiences that sharpened both my leadership and organizational expertise.

After graduating with honors from the University of Arizona, I relocated to Los Angeles to pursue another passion: film production. In a short time, my production team successfully brought several films to distribution, an accomplishment that strengthened my ability to manage complex projects, coordinate teams, and deliver results.

Despite my success in film, my commitment to administration and leadership remained central to my career path. Joining RTA & Associates Financial and Insurance Services allowed me to align that passion with meaningful impact. In my role, I am entrusted with safeguarding our clients’ financial well-being while ensuring our agents and operations run seamlessly.

I take great pride in being part of an organization that values not only financial stewardship, but also personal relationships. Helping clients secure their futures—and supporting a team dedicated to excellence—gives me a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Dania Herrera

Office Administrator

My name is Dania aka “D”, and I serve as the Office Administrator at RTA & Associates. I was born and raised in Northern California and spent four years living in Washington State. I attended high school in California, and earned my Associate’s degree in Washington.

Throughout my career, I have gained diverse professional experience across multiple industries, including fast food, retail, banking, and entertainment. The majority of my professional background is in banking and finance, where I worked closely with clients from various walks of life to help them achieve their financial goals.

I pride myself on my ability to connect with clients, adapt to different situations, and provide dependable support. Being part of RTA & Associates allows me to continue doing what I am passionate about, helping individuals and families move closer to financial success while providing exceptional service and care.

Jonathan Jimenez

Ever since I was high school I was fascinated with literature and how people work. Shortly after I graduated I worked in the film industry on big budget Netflix productions while simultaneously attending UC Davis and graduated as a double emphasis english major. From there, I merged my experience with people and understanding their needs with my affinety for numbers and pattern recognition. I joined Private Client Servicing at American Funds where I worked with ultra high net worth as a Relationship Specialist who focuses on efficient and enriching transactions.

I have my SIE license as well as my life insurance license and have moved on to various firms since to update productivity and grasp a holistic understanding of the industry. I have been with RTA and Associates for over a year now and continued to efficiently offer white glove services and further enrich our clients portfolios.
